Need a place to get away? There is no better corner in the world to hide from the dull everyday than the magical Kalkan. Relax on the picturesque beaches, visit magnificent coves, or one of the numerous ancient cites under UNESCO's heritage list this location has to offer – and forget all of your worries.

We've prepared couple places that are very popular places around Kalkan area. Hope you enjoy our to-do list! :)

Kaputas Beach

Kaputas is one of the popular natural wonders of Kalkan. Located on the coastal road between Kas and Kalkan, surrounded by the cliffs can sound truly challenging, however, it fascinates the visitors with its azure turquoise sea and golden sands.

Some useful information: As Kaputas is a conservation area, you need to go prepared (with plenty of refreshments) Admissions are free of charge however sunbeds and umbrellas are available for a fee. We recommend you go in the morning and get your spot if you want to be close to the beach, as you might end up waiting in a long queue of people waiting :) You can take Kaputas Buses from Kalkan Bus Station for a small fee, or a taxi. It takes approximately 10 minutes.

Patara Beach

By being 12 miles long, and having the finest white fine sands and shallow waters, Patara beach is considered the longest unobstructed beach in Turkey- and the most magnificent one for sure! Patara beach actually is a part of the ancient site of Patara, protected as a national park. It has unique biodiversity, is quite rich in birdlife and is the breeding ground of the endangered loggerhead Caretta caretta turtles. According to many legends, its sand has extraordinary healing powers. You can find many activities at Patara Beach such as horse safari tours along the beach and many water sports centres including canoeing, and scuba diving.

Even though it looks remote, it is quite accessible- you can take the minibuses available every hour from Kalkan Bus Station. Kalkan Bus Station is 5-7 minutes away from Sole by walking. Once you arrive at Patara Beach, you will find all activities/companies at the entrance.

Kalkan Marina / Old Town

With its Greek-Ottoman architecture, renowned and award-winning restaurants, wine houses, pubs and local shops, the Kalkan Marina / Old Town area is definitely the heart (and the most popular area) of the town. the Old Town area will surprise you with its picturesque streets and everything it offers. Kalkan Marina / Harbour is located next to the Old Town, where many beach clubs around Kalkan have their complimentary boat services. You can also find private boat tours to inlets, islands and beaches. There are water sports (Aristos) centres if you're interested in diving, skiing or fishing. The Old Town definitely is a must-see place and you will want to discover and enjoy it for yourself. It is quite buzzy at night, so you can chill at one of the rooftop bars, or enjoy its authentic Greek taverns.

Cakil Beach / Aristos Water Sports

Cakil Beach is one of the closest beach clubs that offers all sorts of water sports activities as well as a bar, and restaurant. There is a spacious deck and very comfortable sunloungers. You can hire sunbeds and umbrellas at the entrance.


Cakil Beach has a ladder going into the sea, so it's quite convenient to swim here. You can spend your whole day at their restaurant, or on sunbeds watching the yachts going into the harbour.

Firnaz Cove

Being nominated as one of the unique coves, Firnaz welcomes you with its translucent waters. Even though it is 2 miles away from Kalkan, it is not accessible via land. This heavenly cove can be visited by daily boat tours from Kalkan (Kalkan harbour).

Due to its mystical 'healing' mud, cove is very popular for diving enthusiasts and tourists. While you're enjoying its rejuvenating sands and having mud bath, you can also witness the magnificent corals and caretta caretta turtles- if you're lucky!

Blue Cave

Also known as 'Pirate Cave', Blue Cave is located in the Kekova region. This amazing cave has a magical colour due to the sunlight bouncing back from the white cave. Everyone (including non-swimmers) can enjoy the beautiful Blue cave as you can paddle inside by canoe from the Kaputas beach or alternatively you can take one of the shared boat trips to the Sunken city of Kekova, where you can also sail to the ancient city of Simena.

Saklikent Canyon

By being the second largest canyon in Europe (12 miles length and 300 meters deep), Saklikent canyon is one of the mystical and hidden gems of Turkey. Saklikent canyon has been declared as a National Park in 1992. It's quite famous with its streams of cold water. According to historians, there are 16 caves from Roman times at this canyon, being used as shelters 3000 years ago.

If you want to visit we recommend you to bring submersible shoes as you will sometimes be walking in shallow water or mud. Plastic shoes can also be rented at the canyon. Make sure you bring waterproof bag to carry your stuff, as you'll be walking in the streams under small magical waterfalls. The admission fee is 13 TL.
